It's that of year again...county dog tags are due!
Every dog in the county is required to be registered with the purchase of a dog tag. Tags are available at the Judge Executive's office or at the Animal Shelter. Each tag has a price of $5.00, however if you have multiple dogs (but less than 10), a kennel tag is available for only $15, with each dog receiving an individual tag for that price. The tags are good from January 1, 2026 until December 31, 2026.
Whether you have a new dog, or a dog you have had for years, please stop by and register your furbabies! This helps identify your dog if they go missing and it's required by county ordinance!
We will no longer have an open pet pantry, or set days for distribution, however, we will have food availbale for those in need. Just call, message, or come to the shelter during open hours and we will help you out!
We do have very limited cat food available, but we will assist where we can.
Thank you to Cleo's Legacy and the community for stocking the pet pantry!
We are a small rural shelter in Bracken County, Kentucky. We work to ensure that all animals within the county are safe and cared for, as well as caring for the many dogs that reside in the county shelter. It is a tough job, as our hearts break every day for all the animals that we can't help, try as we might.
The dogs available for adoptions can be found at the link below. There is an application which will need to be completed to ensure that all dogs get the loving forever home they deserve. Adoption fees are $40.
If you would like to foster any of the animals in the shelter, please complete an application to foster, and we will be in touch.
